Filking "Witch of the Westmoreland"

I was listening to this piece, and it's a lovely tune and, for a folk-song, a comprehensible story.

But it's not a *nice* story. The knight gets injured, finds out she can cure him -- so he *hunts* her. Asshole.

And when he catches her, instead of being annoyed at having been hunted, she heals him, and then takes him to bed.

I want to assume that they're both good folk, and that the problem is that bits got left out of the story.

So -- what do we have to fill in to make these actions reasonable?
