Electoral Farce 2016

Well, that’s over with.

I woke up to an LJ page full of “We can survive this,” which strikes me as so much whistling-in-the-dark. We survive things until we don’t, and then we stop talking about it. And then there are those who say “maybe those so-and-so’s will finally learn something from this.” ‘They’ didn’t learn anything from Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, or Reagan; why should they start now?

I have neither training nor skills as an assassin, and no intention of making an ass out of myself in pretending to them, so there’s *one* decision I don’t have to make. I have a fond but faint theatrical hope that Mr. McCain can make that decision, but it too is just wish-fulfillment. Time to start setting up contingency plans to flee, but also to start figuring out how to pull an Uncle Josef if I need to do that. (Onkel Josef was my mother’s father’s uncle, and according to family history had a job as a dispatcher for the Gestapo from ‘37 to about ‘41, and ended up in Sobibor after that. But for four years, the rate of Jew-catching just west of Frankfurt was absolutely terrible for some odd reason.)

On the more realistic positive side, this may drive Paul Ryan into the arms of the Democrats. We’ll see. In the meantime, I need to get moving on both Asgardia and Solarpunk. And helping Dad move, that comes chronologically first.
