Just did some regular maintenance, and discovered a number of people had added me to their friends' lists without introducing themselves. Some of my stuff *is* friend's-locked, folks, and if you don't introduce yourself I can't add you to the list.

Oh, and if anyone can identify the new troll I've picked up I'd appreciate it.

best,

Joel

Hadn't occurred to me to do so. Is there some reason he might know? As far as I'm aware, he has no LJ account.

best,

Joel

Ah, I had only seen
STUPID POLYDAD, STOP LOOKING AT NUDE PICS AND LIVEJOURNAL AT WORK AND UR BOSS WONT GIVE U GRIEF.

STOP IT. CUTS ARE NOT NECESSARY FOR DADS WITH COMMON SENSE.
and thought it could have been Gabe teasing you. With what else you've said here, that seems overwhelmingly unlikely.

Another friend had posted some lovely if rather graphic close-ups of various portions of her anatomy, and I'd asked for a friends-cut so I could elect to not show these to the rest of the people in the office. Said troll has been anonymously posting in my journal since then, calling me names for having the temerity to read LJ in the office.

I haven't felt obliged to point out to the troll that it's a volunteer-run office.

best,

Joel

O.o

Who *doesn't* check LJ at the office, given the internet and a coffee-break-equivalent?

Oh, brother. Some people care way too much about things that are absolutely none of their business. LOL

It would seem to be gtrmu, whom I don't *think* I know.

best,

Joel

Looking at the groups that person is a member of, I think he's just upset someone else *might* do what he does... ;-)

Mind if I add you as a friend? I see you on asperger sometimes.

Friending me is not something I see as requiring permission, but if you need encouragement, go ahead!

best,

Joel

Some people do, so I just wanted to make sure.

I'm sure you are aware that you can turn off the option for anonymous people to comment. Additionally, if you are certain of who it is you can also ban them permanently.

I can't identify your troll, but can I strangle it when you find it? :)

Only if you get there first.

best,

Joel

Do y'all need help pinning down the troll? I'm fine with being a mere accessory....

you have the IP checking for anonymous posters - that is a good thing. you can use websites to check the location of yr troll which im sure you know.

yeah trolls are out there. I have some too.

If you're into chastisement, consider yourself chastised. If not, don't bother; I only like chastising people who enjoy it. Either way, glad to have you, and if you're close enough to Los Angeles to drop by for dinner, please do.

best,

Joel

Hi! (Consider this an introduction) :D

I'm pretty lucky, I don't get anonymous trolls. Then again, I get plenty of the old-fashioned types who like to follow me around coms but post under their real (or alternate ID's) but they have to be more civil because if they go to far out of line the mods (or LJ itself) will ban them.

Like others have said, you can always ban anon posts in your journal.

Understood, and I thank you for the reminder, but I'd rather put up with the occasional asshole than block the timid folks out.

I also reserve the option to reconsider that decision if and as the circumstances change.

best,

Joel

It's always best to just ignore stuff like this anyway. If you let it get to you then they WIN.

Sticks and stones you know...

Ahhhh gotta love the trolls. i've always said you know you have made it to your 15 minutes of LJ fame when you have trolls.

Of course, i also cannot stand people that post snarky comments and hide behind a veil of anonymity. :)

You responded to my post on male_dom, which I posted from my regular username norevisions. Then I created this journal so I could write about things without my RL friends reading them. I responded to your comment asking you to add me here, but I guess it didn't make it to you. :)

I added you recently as well. I stumbled upon you through a friend's journal and found you very interesting. Hope I can stay!

Sure. Welcome.

best,

Joel
